Thank you for choosing JJ's Window Tinting! Below you will find the following information to inform you of the International Window Film Association (IWFA) standards & expectations of automotive window tinting installation services.
- Drying Time
Your new window film will take about 3-5 days to fully dry, sometimes a little longer depending on film brand, film type & weather conditions. Until this time your tinted windows may appear hazy or wet & it may seem to have water bubbles. DO NOT roll down your windows until dry! Do not wash your tinted windows for at least 30 days. Keep in mind that film can take up to 30 days to fully cure!
For best cleaning results, always use a window cleaner specially formulated for automotive window tint and a clean microfiber towel.
- Black Dotted Edges (Dot Matrix)
Most cars have a black ceramic "frit" edge on the rear window. Sometimes this ceramic edge is straight & flat, sometimes it will have a dotted edge. These black ceramic dots are quite thick on most cars & prevent the window film from sticking to the area between the dots. This results in a whitish looking strip trimming the glass. Typically this isn't very noticeable, however some cars have a wide band of dots trimming the top of the rear window. This area is so wide that the whitish looking area created is more pronounced. Unfortunately, the effect is unavoidable.
- Natural Imperfections
At JJ's Window Tinting, we strive for perfection & we do everything possible to ensure a clean install. Sometimes because of vehicle condition & natural elements, there may be some degree of dust or particles and/or minor imperfections that can be present in window film installation.
Occasionally windows have imperfections, such as fading, scratches, pits and water deposits. These imperfections are often much more noticeable after the windows are tinted.
Some vehicles windows will have more imperfections due to age & some newer vehicles will have small stains in exterior of the windows only visible after a film installed.
Imperfections stand out after window film is installed due to now having a darker background, where as a clear glass before the window is tinted.
During installation, a trace of soapy solution always gets trapped behind the window film and needs a short period of time to completely cure before the adhesive can thoroughly bond to the glass. Cure time is determined by weather conditions & the type of window film installed. This is why we at JJ's Window Tinting suggest a certain number of days to not roll down or clean the windows. We at JJ's Window Tinting recommend not to roll down your windows for 3-5 days. After film installation is complete, a slight moisture haze may appear & it is also possible for small water bubbles to appear. Don't worry, this is a normal part of the curing process. Tapped moisture will dry & disappear. If any moisture remains after the film dries, please contact us at JJ's Window Tinting.
